Christmas Card Throwdown

Christmas Tags

Hi there everyone, just made a couple of Christmas Tags because I have quite a lot of offcuts of Christmas paper, and thought this might be the thing to do with it.   The first one is a green paper with pink dots, and I used the Sizzex embossing folder "Snowflakes" and a "Happy Christmas" cut from the free die that came with issue 73 of Australian Simply Cards using the gold foil that comes on the butter container, I never throw anything out if it can be used for card making!!!   and I used some green lace across the bottom that I had bought at a local Op Shop.   The second tag has two pieces of Christmas Paper that I pulled out of my Christmas Drawer, and a Christmas Tree cut with a free die also from Australian Simply cards, I can't remember which issue it was, but I think it came before last Christmas, and the pine is also cut with a Marianne's creatable die that I have had for ages, these were both cut from Glitter Card.   the ribbons have been dyed with Dyan Revealey sprays.

Tim Holtz cover

Hi there, here is the cover of Tim Holtz folder - I painted it inside out with white Gesso and when it was try I used the tim Holtz stencil "Doily" and Dyan Revealey's  stencil "Luscious Leaves" and white texture paste.   When this was dry I fitted the folder piece with black ribbon and made a bow with several pieces of ribbon, and attached a large Steampunk Owl that I bought from China.   I am very happy at how this turned out and will not add any more to it.   Just have to decide what I will put in it!!!

Mini Album and Journal Cover

Hi everyone, Hope everyone is well. I have two projects here to show you.   The top photo is a Mini Album 5" x 7" with a 1-1/4 spine.   It started out as an Uncle Toby's Oats Cereal Box and I used plain copy paper to make the cover which I used texture paste with a Tiddly Winks stencil "Brick Works" and various Tim Holtz and Hampton Arts stamps to stamp all the bits and pieces, I also used a Memory Box Stencil  "Diamond" with Vintage photo ink pad to stencil the other parts of the cover, I used some variaged fibers from Kaiser Craft that we a gift from a friend to wind around the spine and I found some brass pieces that I bought rom China, a castle, a teapot, an umbrella an alladins lamp, a key and a small steampunk style clock to hang  on them.   This will make a nice present for someone.  The Journal is a piece of corrugated cardboard that was
packaging and I used a home made blue spray, food colouring to use after I put down gesso, and various pieces from my stash, Tim Holtz movers and shapers gears, a brass butterfly, a pretty little angel, a round clock, which is a Kaisercraft wood piece, buttons, bead and a round brass flower piece.
I gesso'd it again and then painted some of the pieces with Jo Sonja's acrylic paint "Gold" and I used a writing stamp from Hampton Arts and put some dark blue beads in the middle of the clock, and then spattered some of the gold paint with a paint brush diagonally from top left to right bottom of the piece. I think I will leave this now as I am not sure what else I want to put on it.   With the yellow mini album, I learned how do do this, the hidden hinges and how to make the flip over pages, inserts etc from My Sisters Scrapper, http://mysistersscrapper.com

Star

Hi there everyone, We had some fabulous news that number three grandson, aged 10 years, has been selected to be School Captain for 2015!!  so I made this congrat's card for him, there is a mistake on this photo where on the bottom tag I spelt SOAR as SOUR, this tag has been replaced with the correct spelling, but it went into the envelope and was posted before I took another photo of it!!!  slack Nana!!!   any way this card was made with Graphic 45 papers and a tag die, the smallest and a Cheery Lynn corner die, I just love this die, steampunk style just right for a boy, and the spellbinders banner die, and the star is am mpress die, the largest star, and shaded with scattered straw Tim Holtz mini ink pad, and an old letter die for the letters.

Layer It

Hi Everyone, Here is a card I made today to enter into Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge No 18 "Layer It", I had fun making this card using a plain white card stock for the background, and I dry embossed it with a Darice Embossing Folder "Sheet Music", and shaded around the edges with Memento Ink Pad, "Lady Bug", I used a paper Doily from the Grocery Store and also shaded it with "Lady Bug", I cut out a white clock with Tim Holtz "Weathered Clock", which I have had for a very long time, I shaded it with Memento Ink Pad "Cottage Ivy", and I found some Christmas Tickets in my stash, they were the last and had been there for ages, I used some red & white Christmas Paper and made a flag and some green ribbon which I tied in a bow, three little diamonte gems to the top right hand corner and some silver stars set in threes on the card, which I think finished it off.   I am entering this into the Challenge No 18, http://gloriadesignschallenge.blogspot.com.au.

Snowman

Hi there everyone, it is a bit cool today, just the type of day to stay inside at your craft table.   I am not very good at "make one layer card" or "Clean and simple" as they are also known, but I wanted to enter a card in the 52 Christmas (card) throwdown, October recipe Challenge of "Make a One Layer Card",
http://52cct.blogspot.com.au, and used a plain white card stock for the card base and used one blueprint stamps from Tom Holtz, and Stampers Anonymous, the dear little snowman, I only inked the stamp to get the figure of the snowman, in Memento Ink Pad Tuxedo Black, and emphasised it with Faber-Castille water colour pencils, using the black and green and red, plus orange for the carrot nose, I used a blue to shade the background and used water to blend it,  I used Memento Ink Pad Bahama Blue for the varios snowflakes that I took of a couple of old stamps that I have had for ages and don't know who the manufacture was, also the Joy was one of the stamps in one of those un-named sets, and I used one of the red pencils for the lines on the two corners.  Hope you all like it, I thought it was just a little bit different!

Good Times

Hi there, here I am again with another card today, this card has a red card base and I used watercolour paper to splash various water colours on the background and used a Dylusions stencil with Memento Ink pad to colour the small leaves that I felt would be good for this card as I was also using an mpress nesting dies "leaves" to cut out these leaves in various autumn colours, from my scrap basket, and I used a Die Namics die for the "Good Times" sentiment,   I am entering this into the Craftroom Challenge "make your own background"
http://craft-roomchallenge.blogspot.com.au

Silent Night

Hi there everyone, here is my card today to enter in the Merry Monday Christmas Challence #130 = "Silent Night"  http://merrymondaychristmaschallenge.blogspot.com.au, I used a white cardstock for the base of the card and used dark blue glitter card for the night sky, and a skyline cutting die from Die-namics, this is one of my favourite cutting dies, it is very versatile, and I used a Kaisercraft stamp, Santa and his sleigh  from the "Tis the Season" collection and white embossed it with Ranger White Embossing Powder.  I am happy with the way this card turned out and hope you are too!!!

Pink Halloween

Hi everyone, it is a bit cool here and we are having heavy rains, just the thing to stay inside and play with paper.   I utilised this time to make this pink Halloween card.   I used black cardstock and plain copy paper sprayed with Dylusions Ink Spray, Bubblegum Pink,   I used a memory box spider web and a cheery lynn corner also cut from black cardstock and the spider I  think is a cheery lynn.   I used a sticker for the druggist sign which I raised on dimensional tape, I used Ranger Pumice Stone ink pad to stamp the bottles with a stamp that I got at a garage sale with no label, I think it could be either a Hampton Art or a Stampers Anonymous.  The gears are all Cheery Lynn.   On the inside I used a Tim Holtz On The Edge cutting die, Iron fence, and cut it from the off cut of pink paper that I had used on the front of the card and the stamps I used are in the same set as the bottles, and I used Ranger Embossing Powder, Silver, to heat emboss the images.   I will use an embossing pen and the silver pen to write my message. The inspiration for this
card came from Emma at That's Life, thanks
Emma!!

Black and orange

Hi all, hope you are all having a good day!  I made this card this morning to enter into the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 154, Black and Orange. http://cheerylynndesigns.blogspot.com.au   I used a black cardstock for the card and used an orange and black paper from Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells paper pad, and cut a picket fence, cheery lynn B123, and an owl cheery lynn B383, this is the small owl, there are two in the packet, I hand cut the branch the owl is sitting on, I used a Sizzex set Retro Halloween to stamp and cut the cat,  and I used the orange pumpkins and smiling moon from some Halloween paper that I downloaded from the net in 2012, and I forgot to note where it came from, so if you know you designed it, thank you.   I really like the smiling pumpkins!

Wish

Hi there everybody, I haven't put anything on my blog since last week, but made this 9" tag, a Christmas one, as I am starting to make tags for my Christmas presents.   I got the inspiration from the Funkie Junkie, on one of their recent blog emails, I really liked it and so I made this one to enter into the October Colour Challenge on 52 (Christmas) card throwdown, http://52cct.blogspot.com.au , the challenge is to use three of the following colours: Dark Pink, Light Pink, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Green.   I think I have achieved this with a light pink, a dark pink and green.   I cut this tag out of cardstock, and reinforced it with a darker piece of card from a package, I used white copy paper and used a Memory Box stencil Texture Diamond with a Memento ink pad, Cottage Ivy, and also used that colour for the Christmas Tree, which is a stamp I received with Australia Simply Cards, for the Merry Christmas I used a mini ink pad from Tim Holtz, Spun Sugar, and a ticket with Wish on it, a dark pink, I used red and white washi tape for the stem of the tree and some christmasy ribbon for the bow and I used a jewelled brad to hold it onto the tag, I also used a Marianne's Creatable cutting die for the pointsettia, and a dark pink stick-on jewel for the centre, I also used a plastic bow on the top edge and inked this up with the Spun Sugar ink, and I am happy with how this turned out.

Neon Christmas

Hi there everyone, this is the second card for me today!   I made this Christmas card to enter into two challenges:

The first is 52 (Christmas) card throwdown, http://52cct.blogspot.com.au Theirs is the October sketch challenge,

The second is: Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #129, which is to use Neon Colours, http://merrymondaychristmaschallenge.com.au , I used white cardstock for the base and used some of the Neon Cardstock that I had put away for the Halloween cards, and I stamped a snowflake from a Kaisercraft stamp set, I have lost the packet so don't know what the name of the set is, I heat embossed the snowflakes with Ranger emb powder, Silver, and I stamped the sentiment from the same set with black memento ink pad.   I think this card has filled both challenges.

Something Wicked

HI there everyone, hope you all will like this card I made for my eldest grandson Ben, he is 14 now and is feeling very serious and grown up so I hope this card will make him laugh!!!  I used black cardstock for the base and Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells paper pad for the papers and I used Cheerylynn Cutting Dies Owls, steampunk collection for the owls and the little book I made that and used a paper clip to hold it closed and used a silver Halloween pumpkin to decorate the clip.   On the inside I again used the Graphic 45 paper, I really love this paper and I stamped the bottles with a stamp set I bought at a garage sale, I think it is a Graphic 45 set Old Curiosity Shoppe, and heat embossed them with Ranger Silver embossing powder, the little labels were found on the net and I also used Ranger Antiquities embossing powder "Terra Cotta" I used an embossing pen to write the sentiment and also embossed it with the Terra Cotta.   All in all I am happy with this card, I am entering it into the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #17 - Happy Fall Y'all, http://gloriadesignschallenge.blogspot.com.au

Halloween Fun

Hi There everyone, all looking forward to some Halloween Fun!!  I made this shadowbox for my second Grandson Andrew, the box was part of a set of three that I bought at one of the cheap shops ages ago, and just brought them out, this is the largest one and they are made of black plastic!!!    I used a variety of dies to make all the bits =
Cheery Lynn - Owls with Gears - Steampunk Set
Cheery Lynn-Fence B123 - Border Die
Memory Box - Creepy Web
Sizzex  - Haunted House - this is an oldie
Tim Holtz/Sizzex Alterations - Retro Halloween - this die needs a base platform.
I bought a bag of plastic Halloween things at Big W. for $5. and this had in it the white ghost, the rat on top of the box and various spiders and cockroaches,
I also used a spellbinders for the orange roses,
the little bottle of blood is actually a little bottle from a cheap shop filled with food colouring, fun putting this together I used wire curled around a pencil to make the bits that hold up the flying owl and the bats, I stood the bottle of poisoned blood on two wooden beads that I painted black, I made the flowers out of orange computer paper, the witches face was coloured with Faber-Castille water colour pencils and I stuck the plastic spiders etc on to the box with "Tarzan's Grip" because that is the strongest glue I have and the grey spider web in the top left hand side back under the spider is actually waxed paper that I put on the die before the black card and I thought it would be good there, and the little silver Halloween pumpkin is a charm that I bought from China, the fence, and spider webs were stuck on with double sided tape. Hope you all will like this, because I know that Andrew will laugh and love it,  I am entering this into Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge #153 - Halloween, http://cheerylynndesignsblogspot.com.au
