Our Story

Hi everyone, Here is a layout that I did today, celebrating my Daughter Justine and her family on reaching the topmost point of Australia.   They had a wonderful 6 week camping trip to get there and this is the photo when they reached it.   I am entering this layout into the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #13, "Lets cycle - up-cycle, that is".   http://gloriadesignschallence.blogspot.com.au I used a piece of packaging for the background and tore off one layer so that the corrugated core could be seen, and then I painted it all with white gesso, and when that dried I added an old map of Australia that I found on the net a long time ago, thinking that I would use it eventually, and it suits this layout perfectly, I used a black arrow to show where the family is on the map.   I shaded the edges with "Vintage Photo" ranger ink pad, and used a little cut out that has also been in my stash for ages "our story" on the top left hand corner, a doily from the IGA supermarket for underneath the photo, also shaded with the Vintage Photo ink pad, I used a magnetic image from a TIm Holtz stamp set, "the Journey", this is also an old set.   The piece of photo negative is also quite old and is my last piece from a gift from my friend Meg, I used greenery from Cheery Lynn dies and for the flowers, small ones punched from left over Graphic 45 paper, with liquid Perfect Pearls for the centres, the metal gears I got from China, and the small caravan and campervan are from a Quickutz cutting die, and the numbers are from an old Cuttlebug lettering die set "Typewriter", the paperclip on the right hand side is an old office paper clip with a Tim Holtz piece with a bead wrapped around it in the manner of a buoy that holds crab pots etc in place, I could find my jump rings so attached it to the top part with an old brass safety pin.
