Surfn" Santa

Hi everyone, here is a card I called Surfn' Santa, he is a surfie boy dressed in Santa clothes and has a hat made of red glitter with a white cotton wool pompom on his hat.   He is in the water and I coloured him, the water, the surfboard and sun with generic markers,  and the gifts are cut from a Cottage Cutz cutting die "Stacked Presents" the background is the inside of a cardboard box and the patterned papers came from my scrap basket, and the white background is plain white cardstock with the corners rounded with a punch, and the card base is green cardstock.  We in Australia have very hot Christmas and spend the day either at the beach  or around the pool.  I am entering this into the 52 Christmas (card) throwdown  challenge "pick a previous sketch) http://52cct.blogspot.com.au and the sketch I picked is "Sketch 5 - May 2012"   thanks for visiting.

scrap book layout

My daughter sent me some photo's of her family on their road trip, (a 6 week drive) to Cape York which is the top most point of Australia, so I thought I would make an album for myself because if you leave the photo's in a drawer, you will never look at them.   So I thought an 8" x 8" book would be good, I am using the binding that I found on Dawns Inspirations http://dawnsinspirations.com.  It worked for me when  I recently made a Christmas flip Album for my friend, this is the page 1 and I used a Dyan Revealey stencil for the edges and a memory box stencil for the arrow and a stamp for the palm tree and a little cutting die from Quickutz for the van and trailer and some paper from my scrap pile as a mat behind the photo, I washed the paper with ranger distress re inker - tumbled glass.  On page 2,       I washed the page again and used a Tim Holtz stencil "stripes" and "clockwork" using "Vintage photo" for everything on the page, used scrap paper again for behind the photo, and more scrap paper to cut out the grass, which is with a Cheery Lynn flower, but it makes great grass, and the road sign was cut with a template that my friend Helen gave me and stamps are from Hero Arts Stamps "Past Times" set.   and the arrow is from a Memory Box Stencil.    Hope you like these photo's, I will have more in following days,    Thanks for visiting

new shopping tote

Hi there everyone, this post is not anything to do with cards, I felt like making a new handbag with plastic handles, then when I went through my sewing things I changed my mind and decided I would make a new larger bag that I could use for shopping or an overnight bag to hold a change of clothes, so used a pattern for the embroidery from a magazine called "adorable bags" that I picked up in the sale basket at the newsagent, the embroidery is from a design from Ann Dimmer with a few changes, because I found a few different buttons in my button box, I quite like the result of the embroidery.   There are nine pockets of various sizes inside attached to the lining, the outside is made from upholstery fabric and I lined it with cream cotton fabric and I made a removable liner for the base of the bag from an old Xray that I covered with the lining fabric, so that I will be able to remove it when the bag needs washing, and I made the handles long enough so that I can carry it on my shoulder, and when I am on a plane it is soft enough to use as cabin luggage so that it will fit under the seat in front of me.    It is very different from what I envisaged before I started, but I am happy with the result.

reindeer poop

Hi everyone, I saw recently on the net a lady made some lovely little treats for Christmas, she used red cardstock and a poem about Santa's reindeer leaving their droppings.   I cannot remember where I saw it, but I do thank the lady who thought of this great idea.   I have not replicated hers, but made it quite different, I used white copy paper to print the poem on, I also used "green grass" as these are for my grandsons and we do not have snow here in Australia in Queensland, it is hot, so that is why I changed the snow to the grass.   I shaded the edges of the paper with green ink pad, Memento Cottage Ivy and cut some holly leaves from Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers die - " mini pine tree and holly" set, with scraps from my scrap basket also the little red holly berries are also glitter paper from the scrap basket, I cut a small tag out of red scrap card, and wrote the greeting in Silver Gel Pen and used Green ribbon for the bow, I also stapled the clear bag to the top of the paper.

Thinking of you

Hi there everyone, here is today's card, it started out with white cardstock for the base and I stamped a Stampendous stamp "Music" with Ranger's distress ink pad "chipped sapphire" and cut out Tim Holtz' bigz cutting die "writing desk" out of a cereal box and shaded that with Rangers ink pad "Vintage photo" and used a Memory Box cutting die and a Cheery lynn die for the "Thinking of you" which I cut out from a dark blue card stock.  On the inside I used a Cheery Lynn die "Best Wishes" also cut from dark blue cardstock,   I shaded around the edges with the Chipped Sapphire ink pad with a dauber.  Hope you all like this card and thanks for visiting!!!

Christmas Mini Flip Album

Hi everyone, here is a new album that I made a friend for Christmas photos, I found the binding on You
Tube,  Dawns Inspirations, and on her 6" x 6" album instructions, she has very clear and understandable instructions, but I changed her 6" x 6" album to a 6" x 6" flip album, with pockets and tags and photo mats, I used 6" x 6" paper pad, a couple of different brands, they were left over from other projects, but I think they all worked out all right, there is room for 20 photo's, this number is not only pages but the photo mats, and there is room for journaling, and I closed the book with a green satin ribbon, I used red glitter paper for the Merry Christmas which was a die cut in "Jolly" die set from Quickutz, I have had this for a long time and the numbers were cut from No.48 Number Set also from Quickutz, I have also had this set for a very long time.   I am happy with the finished album and hope my friend will also like it.  Thanks for visiting.

Aussie Christmas #2

Hi everyone, Here is the 2nd Aussie Christmas Card I have made, I am entering this card into the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #136, use colours red, green and white.  http://merrymondaychristmaschallenge#136(redgreenwhite)html I used a white cardstock for the base and embossed it with an mpress embossing folder "retro swirls"  and hand cut the leaves and the flowers that I quilled and painted the edges white.   These are Australian Gum Flowers and they flower in December, I hand cut the gum leaves in green and shaded them with Memento Ink Pad "Cottage Ivy"  and the Merry Christmas was cut from the same green as the flowers with a Marianne's Creatable cutting die.  am pretty happy with this one, thanks for visiting!!  I also entering this card into the challenge on Beccysplace,BlogSpot. http://www.beccysplace.com.au

Aussie Christmas #1

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for a week or so, have had commissions to finish, and all done now!!  I decided that for Christmas 2015 I would make Aussie Christmas Cards.  We don't have snow or snowflakes, reindeer or all the other things that are in the Northern Hemisphere. We have Sun, Beach, flies, gum trees and all the other fun things that we do on Christmas Day, we have all the family around the BBQ or the pool, we go to the bush for a camping trip, but we still have Santa visiting.   So I made my first card with Aussie Santa a surfie boy, with his presents on the beach, which was made with a piece of sandpaper that I found in the shed, and used a stamp that came free with an issue of Australian Papercraft, a few years ago and I don't still have the magazine, only the stamp, I used ordinary generic markers to colour all the waves, surfboard and the santa suit, and sun and used red glitter paper to make Santa's hat. the presents were cut from a Cottage Kutz die with a backing of "Dots" Christmas paper, and red cardstock for the front of the presents I used a tag which was a gift from a friend, thanks Meg, and a green pen from Stabilo to write the message, I used a piece of cotton wool for the pom pom on Santa's hat which was free cut. the sky was a wash with a ranger re-inker "tumbled glass" and I used red card stock for the base card.   I thought it was not too bad for a first attempt, and will be doing more cards with an Aussie theme for next year.   Hope you all like it!  Thanks for visiting!!

Birthday Card

Hi there, This is another commissioned card, for a friend's husband and I made an A5 card with white cardstock that I edged with Distress Ink "Vintage Photo" this is one of my favourite colours, and I used the "Weathered Clock" die, cut in black card stock, I also added "The Watch Man" that I stamped out and coloured with Faber-Castille Aquarelle pencils, and printed the question on my computer and used a Spellbinders cutting die "Hexagons" to cut it out and edged it with the "Vintage Photo", on the inside I used kitchen paper to mask the areas that I did not want to print on, using the Graphic 45 Hampton Art stamp, I don't know what this stamp set it called but used the stamp with the writing on it, I put a little brown spider hanging from one of the corners, this was from the Halloween Stamp Set also from Hampton Art, and the gears were in the same set, again using the "Vintage Photo", the numbers were cut with a QuicKutz cutting die No.48 Number Set, which I have had for ages, the arrows, I am not sure of the maker because the die cuts were a gift
from a friend, and the "Happy Birthday" was cut from
a free die that came with "Australian"Simply Cards" magazine, They are a great magazine, with free
gifts with every issue.   I hope the recepient will like this card and get a laugh out of it.
at the bottom right hand side I put a die cut
from Graphic 45 "Congratulations on your
Special Day" and on the envelope I put the
off cut from the Graphic 45 paper, which was
from "The Olde Curiousity Shop" and used on the front of the card  and stamped vintage car images from Tim Holtz stamp set
"Life's Possibilities".

Place Cards

These Place Cards were made as a commission, I cut the card stock at 4" x 4" and used blue Parker ink to write the names and used Tim Holtz movers and shapers die "Mini Pine Tree & Holly Set" and used red card stock and punched the little berries, and used a Stabilo number 88 mini pen in dark green to make the faux stitching around the edges and found a box in my stash to add Christmas Paper and a Marianne's Creatables die "Pointsettia" to make a flower for the top and I put a pale green stick on pearl in the centre, the stick on pearl was bought from a cheap shop, the box was the correct size for the cards, and the buyer was very happy with them.

Gift Card holders

Hi there everyone, here are some gift card holders/envelopes I made this morning, together with the tag, I cut the card 8-1/2" x 5-1/2, and scored one end at 2" and the other at 2-1/2" and folded the 2-1/2" end over and secured with double sided tape and then attached Christmas designer paper from a pad that I received with a magazine a couple of years ago, I made a belly band and attached reindeers from Reindeer Flight Tim Holtz Bigz cutting die and on the other I made a little Christmas card cut with the Spellbinders banner die the second smallest one, and for the tag I cut these out of the spare card that was left over from the envelopes and used a silver gel pen to draw the faux stitching and cut silver and light green glitter card snowflakes Sizzex number 17,  I am happy how these turned out and the boys should like them.

Thanks

Hello there, here is a card I made today to enter into the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #19, "For all that you do - Thank you", http://gloriadesignschallenge.blogspot.com.au, I used a cream cardstock for the card base and used a piece of card,, packaging from an ice cream box, it was the right colour that I wanted and I didn't have any card stock to hand that colour, I shaded the edges with Ranger "vintage photo" ink pad and used a Stabilo fine black pen to make the faux stitching around the edges, and an "On the Edge" Tim Holtz die "doily" and cut out some flags, paper found in my scrap drawer, and used a Spellbinder cutting die "Rose Creations" to make the flower with a centre cut with a paper punch, the flourish was cut with a Die-Namics die "Leafy Flourish" and the "Thanks" was cut with a Memory Box "Thank you" die, the doily was shaded with the "Vintage Photo" ink pad.   Hope you all like this one!! The design is from a card map seen on Cheery Lynn email from 26/9/14, from Corina Finley. Thank you Corina for your inspiration!!! All the papers used for this card came out of my scrap drawer/left overs from other projects!
